Don’t buy too many at once! Doesn’t remove Chloramines,
I’ve been using the aquasana shower system for years now (3 or 4, I think). They work – hair and skin are definitely less dry. I’ve stuck with them because my family is inhaling less chlorine fumes which is probably a healthy choice. One problem is that a recent filter cartridge turned out to be defective. Aquasana’s customer service gave me a “run-around” – we have no record of your purchase, contact the distributor, some of our distributors issue refunds…. Fortunately, amazon.com took back the defective cartridge that had only lasted 6 weeks and gave me a full refund. In the course of my correspondence with Aquasana I learned that they do not replace defective cartridges – they pro-rate the refund for the defective filter over six months from the purchase date. Yikes, don’t stock up on these! If you don’t use it right away, you could be stuck. On a positive note, I’ve bought probably 10 of these filters and this is the first one that clogged.
Update:
I’ve switched from Aquasana to Vitashower (which isn’t as well-constructed, but that’s another review). The Aquasana 4125 filter does not remove chloramines, which many municipalities now use instead of chlorine for disinfection. If you want to remove the chloramines, you have to purchase the AQ-4125C. According to Aquasana’s sales rep, the 4125C can be ordered over the phone for $54.40 and lasts about 6 months because there’s no bacterial inhibitor.

|Really works.,
I’ve used this for a year now. Really works. The key to replacement is noticing when you have to turn the faucet handles more and more to get the same flow, then the filter is clogged. If you wait, it will separate itself from back pressure.
